Version 6.0 is shaping up to be one of those updates that completely changes the game, bringing new characters, a fresh region, gameplay system overhauls, and anniversary rewards all at once. The release is expected to land on September 10, 2025, following the standard six-week update pattern.
Among the new characters, there’s Flins, a five-star Electro polearm. The other headliner is Lauma, a dendro catalyst with a sub-DPS and support focus. She modifies the Bloom reaction into a new variation called lunar bloom, keeping her tightly connected to Nod Krai’s elemental design. A new four-star, Aino, is also joining the roster as the first Hydro claymore character in the game.
The banners are stacked this time. Although the phases haven’t been confirmed, what we do know is that Flins and Lauma will be releasing in 6.0, with Yelan and Nahida rerunning alongside them. What’s more surprising is that the Sumeru-themed Chronicled Wish is likely debuting earlier than expected, bringing back characters like Cyno, Alhaitham, Wanderer, and Nilou, with Dehya and Tighnari moving into the standard pool. It mirrors the rerun experiment from version 5.6, where Hoyoverse ran multiple banners alongside a regional wish pool.
Anniversary rewards will also be a highlight. A free five-star selector is expected, along with at least 20 wishes, and the livestream will likely reveal more. When version 5.0 was celebrated, players walked away with over 100 wishes in total, the most generous reward package since launch, so even if this anniversary falls short of that, it will still be a huge boost, especially for free-to-play accounts. Quality-of-life upgrades also tend to accompany milestone patches, much like version 4.0’s exploration improvements, so something similar is likely.

The biggest new addition is Nod Krai itself. The new regional collectible, the Lunarculous, will level up the Moon Goddess statue, while moon sigils act as a currency. The Fatui presence is said to be more prominent here than in previous regions, making their influence central to the story. Narrative content is also being approached differently, as Archon quests and character stories will merge into a unified flow for more seamless storytelling.
For endgame players, the Imaginarium Theater is being expanded with harder difficulties, more rewards, and a collectible card system tied to the Lunar Arcana case, where cards can be gathered and even traded in co-op for gameplay bonuses. Meanwhile, visual improvements are also being introduced, with smoother combat and cutscene animations and even some two-dimensional integration, which explains the updated device requirements. It’s the kind of step that could make the game feel far more modern in presentation.
All of this will be confirmed in the official stream on August 29, but from everything leaked and hinted at so far, version 6.0 looks like one of the most ambitious patches the game has seen in years. Whether you’re more excited about Flins’s high-damage lunar system, Lauma’s reaction-heavy playstyle, the anniversary rewards, or simply exploring a brand-new region, there’s a lot on the horizon that could change the way players experience Genshin.
